הרעיון במילים פשוטות

Coppock compared market recoveries with mourning: it takes time. The curve smooths two long rates of change to show when a decline has really run its course.

איך זה מחושב

Add ROC(14) and ROC(11) and smooth the sum with a 10-period weighted moving average.

Coppock = WMA(ROC(14) + ROC(11), 10)

איך משתמשים בזה

  • Classic buy signal: the curve turns up from below zero (originally on monthly index charts).

הסקת מסקנות

  • Designed for monthly candles of stock indices; on short timeframes it is just a smooth momentum line.

דוגמה

US500 monthly: the curve bottoms at −18 and turns up; in the classic method that is a long-term buy signal.

ממה להיזהר

  • Very few signals and no sell rule in the original.
